Led by head coach, Ken Gabrielson of Orange County Fire Authority, the firefighter team pulls through in the final match to secure the 2009 Conrad Salinas Guns-N-Hoses Patriot Cup against a stacked law enforcement team and 1500 spectators. A surprise victory by welterweight Matt Hennessy, LAFD, against US Border Patrolman Florentino Martinez tipped the scales in favor of the firefighting team. With the firefighting team and law enforcement team tied at 2 matches all, fire captain Travers Collins, of Santa Rosa Fire Department endured a two round slugfest with Los Angeles Police Department Alberto Franko to secure the team cup for the firefighting team.

During the night's exhibition matches, LAPD, and former UFC star Phillip Miller grappled with a lion's heart against reining world submission grappling champion Raphael Davis before losing in the last round. In the Pro match, Cub Swanson proved to the sold-out crowd that he was "all-that" in his decisive victory of pro Brian Gugerty. And, Seattle PD's Brad Conway made a strong statement for our Northwest brothers in his decisive victory over LAPD's Patrick Higa.

Special thanks to all of the Guns-N-Hoses Grapplers for creating such a memorable event. Through their efforts, $30,000 to-date has been raised in benefit of fallen officer & firefighter charities.
